Victoria Quays

The restored canal basin behind the station, with Victorian warehouses, narrowboats and waterside bars.

The Sheffield & Tinsley Canal terminates here in a basin opened in 1819. The grand Terminal Warehouse, straddling the water so barges could unload under cover, has been restored along with the coal merchants' offices and the Grain Warehouse.

Moored narrowboats, a hotel and a handful of bars make it a pleasant five-minute detour from the station, and the towpath runs east out of the city towards Tinsley.
