Ladybower & the Upper Derwent

Ladybower, Derwent and Howden reservoirs fill a steep wooded valley in the Dark Peak, and the Derwent dam was used by 617 Squadron to practise for the Dam Busters raid in 1943.

A traffic-free road runs up the western side for cycling and walking, bikes can be hired at Fairholmes, and in dry summers the ruins of the drowned village of Derwent reappear.
