Firth Court is the original university building of 1905, a red-brick and terracotta hall with a tower, stained glass and a grand staircase, opened by King Edward VII on the day the university received its charter.

Around it the Western Bank campus runs up to the Arts Tower and the Grade I listed Western Bank Library, a short walk from Weston Park.
