Fitzalan Square

A restored Edwardian square of grand facades between the city centre and Castlegate.

Fitzalan Square was laid out in the 1880s as a formal civic space and is ringed by handsome Edwardian buildings, including the old General Post Office and the former Classic Cinema, with a statue of King Edward VII at its heart.

After years as a bus interchange it has been re-landscaped with new paving, planting and lighting, and now forms the link between the High Street shops and the redeveloping Castlegate quarter.
