Cathedral Church of St Marie
A jewel-box Victorian Gothic revival cathedral tucked just off Fargate.
St Marie's was built in 1846–50 to a design by Matthew Hadfield and became the Catholic cathedral for Hallam in 1980. From the street it is easy to miss; inside it is a richly decorated Gothic revival interior of stained glass, stencilling and carved stone.
It is open most days for visitors and sits a few steps from Fargate and the Peace Gardens.
